The Friends of the Cardiff-by-the-Sea Library are continuing their tradition of community support this year by offering four $1,500 scholarships to graduating high school seniors.

Who Is Eligible?

Applicants must reside in zip code 92007 or 92024 and be completing their high school senior year and be planning to attend a college, university or trade school in 2018 and have their own valid San Diego county library card.

How To Apply

Applications may be downloaded here.  They are also available at the Cardiff-by-the-Sea Library.

Applicants must submit an essay, not to exceed 500 words, addressing how your library experiences have influenced your education and why you are planning to pursue a post-secondary education.  Describe your special interests and extra-curricular activities.

In addition to the essay, applicants must submit two letters of recommendation from non-family members, e.g. a teacher, counselor, employer, neighbor, youth leaders, etc. In addition, proof of high school registration, proof of residency in either zip code 92007 or 92024, a copy of their public library card, and a copy of their current high school ID card are required. Send the original application and supporting documentation to:

How Are Applications Evaluated?

A panel of judges selected from the community will evaluate the applications, essays, and supporting materials, and select the top four candidates.

The application packet must be received by April 30, 2018 by 6:00pm
Winners will be notified on or before May 24, 2018
