Scholarship Program
The Friends of the Cardiff-by-the-Sea Library are continuing their tradition of community support by offering four $1,000.00 scholarships to graduating high school seniors.
Who is eligible?
Applicants must reside in either zip code 92007 or 92024 and be nearing completion of their senior year of high school and be planning to attend a college, university, or trade school in 2012.
How to apply?
Applications may be downloaded [ here ] and are available at the Cardiff-by-the-Sea Library, 2081 Newcastle Avenue,
Cardiff-by-the-Sea. How are applications evaluated?
A panel of judges selected from the community will evaluate the applications, essays, and supporting materials, and select the top four candidates.
The application packet must be received by April 30, 2012. Winners will be notified on or before June 4, 2012.
Applicants must submit an essay, not to exceed 500 words, addressing how your library experiences have influenced your education and why you are planning to pursue a post-secondary
education. Describe your special interests and extra-curricular activities.
In addition to the essay, applicants must submit two letters of recommendation from non-family members, e.g. a teacher, counselor, employer, neighbor, youth leader, etc. In addition,
proof of school registration, proof of residency in either zip code 92007 or 92024 and a copy of their public library card are required. Send the original application and supporting
documentation to: Scholarship Panel, Friends of the Cardiff-by-the-Sea Library, P.O. Box 657, Cardiff-by-the-Sea, CA 92007, or hand deliver it to the Cardiff Library.
